Aviation companies throughout New Zealand carry out a range of aerial work including fertiliser and chemical spraying. These companies utilise the AKO, VMP series pneumatically operated pinch valves for on/off control of the spray nozzles on the boom. The companies required a valve that was economical, robust and offered efficient trouble free operation. Downtime and frustration with blocked valves in this business while away from base is not acceptable.

A valve switch in the cockpit sends a pneumatic signal to the pinch valve on the boom which compresses the pinch valve sleeve shutting off flow to the spray nozzles. The same switch in the cockpit allows the air signal to exhaust from the pinch valve allowing it to open and spraying to begin.

Pinch valves are by design ideally suited for abrasive & corrosive liquids & slurries over ball, plug, gate, and diaphragm valves that would typically jam or leak due to particles being trapped in the valve seats. The flexible rubber sleeve in the pinch valve will close around any solids when the valve shuts. On opening the solids are flushed away. They provide tight effective shut-off and 100% full flow on opening.

The VMP series are a compact, light weight pinch valve with a range of sleeves in various elastomers to suit the required chemical resistance. The pinch valves are available in both white and black (for good weathering resistance) POM thermoplastic in sizes from G3/8 – G2”.
